So I was thinking about Walking on Air yesterday and how it shot up iTunes, and it made me wonder, when you preorder the album, it automatically downloads any new content when it becomes available. So those who pre-ordered PRISM had the song downloaded when it became available, but do those downloads count towards iTunes singles chart placements and single sales from Soundscan?

They count to PRISM pre-orders. Remember the day when WOA hit the 1st spot? This happened because for some reason they counted the downloads of the album (the WOA, in this case) for the single. Then they fixed it and the song started to free-falling.
