About the same number of people bought Fearless who have bought Red. It went platinum, too, anyway - I don't know what its current numbers are. But she had to have this kind of success with pure pop songs because that's the kind of music the UK likes. The country market there is tiny; there's, like, one radio station that plays country songs for one hour on a Thursday evening. A lot of people couldn't get into Taylor because they weren't ever exposed to her. I think a few country artists would be successful here if they were given a chance, but our radio stations aren't going to start suddenly playing Miranda Lambert.
Also, Taylor never made being big in the UK a priority before now. She's done a few bits of promo over the years but nothing major - when Love Story took off and was a major hit, that was her chance, but I guess the huge Fearless era in the US was happening, too, so all her attention was focused on that. This time there's been a strategic plan to conquer the UK and it's worked.
