Between courses, Yahoo Movies caught up with the working Mum, and asked her what she thought of Jessica Chastain’s statement calling Blanchett’s performance as a fragile divorcee in the Woody Allen hit “absolute genius.” Last August, the double Oscar nominee wrote on her Facebook page about "Blue Jasmine": "I was walking out of the theatre, feeling like a snow bed willow next to Cate’s sequoia."
Blanchett's response? She chuckled good-naturedly at this forest comparison, deepening the laugh lines on either side of her pastel lips. She's also keeping tabs on Chastain, telling us that her redheaded colleague had just finished shooting “Miss Julie” directed by Liv Ullmann.
So, we asked, who does Cate admire? Well, Chastain for one. And Ullmann. Michelle Williams and Bette Davis. The lesser known stage actress Elizabeth Debicki who played Jordan Becker opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Great Gatsby." And two surprises: Jack Lemmon and Lucille Ball.
