It seems like they are really aware of which are the "best Pokemon" of the generation though, because what they revealed early were really the standouts and managed to build excitement effectively.

I think it's pyroars counterpart and that also only has 2stages.
nnnn; it doesn't look like a last stage tho unlike Pyroar and we don't know if they are counterparts (i think if they would be the evos would have been revealed together)

But anyway, the problem is everyone keeps comparing whatever new pokemon that comes out to the original. But, even the original has hideous, stupid pokemon. Again, I like these new gen 6 pokemon. Nothing can be worse than gen 5.

I think Gen 5 was alot better than people give it credit for, there were ALOT of duds but almost none of these pokemon so far have that pokemon feel to them its hard to explain

Serperior looked flawless. Samurott had a couple of flaws (whiskers, the teeth, etc.) and Emboar was plain ugly so I can't say much. They had 2/3 of it right.
Can't say the same for Gen VI This is the worst gen in terms of fully evolved starters.
