True, but all their endeavor's outside of the music industry will contribute to their legacy and their achievements in, let's say movies, will be remembered. For instance, just look j.lo, she is just as remembered as an actress as she is as a singer. I have never dragged anyone on endorsements, unless they fail to sell that endorsement, and then I would be dragging their star power (remember bey her flop pepsi commercial? Me neither ).
Also, at the end of the day, people are going to say X was so successful she had so many hit songs. Y was so successful her songs were practically everywhere. Trust me, you'll hear no one saying "Z is so successful, she made so much money". Not to mention that the celebrities' actual finances are so beyond our reach, and googling 'Rihanna net worth' doesn't really reveal anything.
Now if you want to get into our specific case, it's even more idiotic to compare Beyonce and Rihanna because they come from such different backgrounds. Beyonce comes from an already rich family; She's the daughter of business savvy people and she has married a business oriented guy (for his money, obviously). Rihanna literally started from scratch and her contracts got screwed over by her handlers when she was only 15, so she's hardly accountable for that. Hope that answers your question.

I get what you're saying in terms of legacy, but the bottom line is that if everyone were to go along with this it would be pretty much the only sphere where net worth from career earnings is divorced from the idea of who is

successful
I mean, Forbes obviously extends beyond just celebrities and you don't see people contesting that as a measure of power for corporations and their figureheads. Money = power. And considering the things that stars are dragged for in here on a daily basis, I don't think there's basis for exception.
But tell me -- if Rih was ******** at #1 on Forbes for multiple years and out-earning ALL the girls (most of all Bey), do you really think the Navy (or even you possibly) would not be using that as a receipt?
