This is the first time I see it on such a large scale. In Italy a guy called Marco Carta also gets bizarre iTunes boosts, and he even ends up with certified singles.

I've seen it happen in the Netherlands as well. I don't know why the labels do it, it doesn't seem profitable at all.

But sending all of Katy's singles to the top 3 is a very good way to get attention.
