Madonna proved a lot of people wrong and even though she was outsold and overshadowed by her peers at times and pissed a lot of people off, she managed to outlast all of them
Janet was a force in pop music from 1986-2001 (mainly in the U.S. but hey a force is a force )
She got Top 10 hits, acclaimed albums, & had great concerts. The shadow casted by her peers is too big but Jan deserves her props. She contributed alot to pop music in her day.
You guys try so hard to make Mariah look like Cyndi when:
A. She's sold well over 20M albums, like Madge, since 2001/02
B. She had one of the biggest eras of her career, 15 years into it.
C. She's had multiple top 10's, like Madge, since 2001/02 + #1's.
D. She had her biggest first week in 2008.
E. She's still a respected, influential vocalist and will continue to be that for another 24 years.
She's still making millions of dollars for doing practically nothing, people of this generation still use her music, her recurrent airplay is on point. If Mariah's career ended in 2001, then I could understand your logic, but as it is anyone would be happy to have a career similar to what she's had. It would actually make more sense to use Whitney or Janet as an example as they both came out in the 80s. Using G0D as an example works only when it comes to touring.
i know Moo is pretty successful herself but Madodo's career is much more memorable
