Can we try to compile a list of solo singers who were in a group whose success is not greater than their success in the group? This is a way that we can effortlessly school the wasps who like to pretend that Beyonce was guaranteed all her success by being in DC. We all know that it surely helped her transition, it got her a record deal, better promo etc, but at the end of the day her success depended on the quality of the music and the artist, not the popularity of her past group work.

Her solo debut was the quite successful in the UK but not as much worldwide. Her debut solo tour was cancelled.
I guess we could list any of the Spice Girls as well as they all nearly almost equal popularity.

Was even more of the lead singer for the Pussycat Dolls than Beyonce was. PCD was everywhere for a while, everyone knew who Nicole was but not any of the other members. Once solo she has been a judge and has hits in the UK.
