Having more artists in your iTunes/Spotify doesn't mean you've heard more than the average poster on ATRL or in real life. Those 1000+ artists don't mean **** if most of them are all almost the same. Your last.fm REEKS with basic artists with basic hits being forgotten after a year. Just everywhere. Everything is an unlistenable dated mess. I can put most of them into one long category: insincere over-produced radio-edited naked-brazilian-profilepic-core entry-level clubpop. You listen to too much 00s-now stuff and not enough classical, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and some acclaimed 90s stuff. Which is sad coming from someone who thinks he has heard it all.
This is why I think Gaga is the superior mainstream pop artist in the game right now. I can listen to lots of older and totally different stuff and I can still come back and bop to her music. I've met and seen Gaga fans (on the internet) who tend to be like more open-minded than the average pop/radio listener like you qua music. Some of them are even metal fans which is the most weirdest thing ever since metal is the enemy of pop qua song structure. And coincidentally, I've never met or seen a Britney (or Katy or Rihanna) fan who doesn't have a taste like you. It's always the same boring top artists.
