Again talking about feminism
Please Lorde, you need to know what are you talking about, stop saying what is good to young girls because you are 16, you don't even know it
In a way, I agree with her. Girls needs idols who aren't as flawless as the unrealistic image the industry has made Taylor Swift seem to be. They need girls who are realistic, because the overwhelming majority of girls can never be as perfect as Taylor Swift. Having flawless people in the media only enables self esteem issues. I don't get where this ties into feminism though.
What Lorde says is a misconseption many adults have about young teenagers. Grown ups often expect thirteen year olds to feel as good about
themselves as they do; however, you won't ever find a 13 year old girl that feels perfect about herself. You're still developping at that time and having self doubts and comparing yourself with others is a healthy part of growing up although we can't understand it anymore when we're grown up. When I was thirteen, I wanted to be like Leona Lewis. I liked her hair and I liled her style and so I copied her clothing style. And eventually, it made me feel good about myself although I find it silly now, looking back. But it's just a normal part of growing up and young girls actually need celebs to look up to. It's not a 21st century phenomena or something anti feminist as Lorde says.
