Windows Phone has just overtaken iPhone and is steadlily rising in marketshare in Latin America, Middle East and some European countries. It's actually Nokia that's responsible for the rising popularity of Windows Phone though I don't know if the recent announcement of Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia will have a negative effect on its momentum.

This! Happened to me also. Before I even convinced a friend to go Android instead of WP. Now that I have WP I realize how Android is trash, and WP is the better OS.

Lol aw, I'm not certain of the details myself, but to my understanding it depends where you go to trade it in (Walmrt, Gazelle, Amazon, Best Buy, Apple, carrier, etc) and the condition of your phone. Then, that will be applied as a credit to the next device you choose to get (in your case, the 5S).

Apparently Apple won't let people know approx values until they try and go through the trade-in process themselves.

Here's a few details on the trade-in program. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable pops in to help you...
