The medium of the internet, due to the degree of anonymity we all have, allows for a lot of deplorable, extreme statements to be expressed. Statements we would never make in person out of not just fear of punishment, but (hopefully) out of a degree of respect for others.
We've all been guilty of it at one point or another and I think it's about time that sort of childishness and ignorance is examined.
