Yeah but he still tends to be overlooked here, guys like Lionel and Marvin have actual signature songs that still live on to this day. Everyone knows who Stevie is but it's much tougher to name one of his songs.
Superstition, Higher Ground, My Cherie Amour, Livin' for the City, You Haven't Done Nothin', I Just Called to Say I Love You, I Wish, Love Having You Around, Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours, Black Man, Isn't She Lovely, Fingertips (part 2), Uptight (Everything's Alright), Hey Love, Do I Do, Part Time Lover...
I don't usualy like to hate on artists because IT all depends on taste.
But Katy Perry music is tragic.
Just listen to Roar for the first time like this is plain BAD.

I agree with you that most (young) people find it hard to name his songs. But he has a legendary status here and he has some classics that everybody recognizes and will be in the very long future.

I don't mean this in a trolling way, but who on earth are the Grateful Dead?
A rock group from the 60s. They're practically synonymous with the hippie/ counterculture movement of the late 60s, and their lead guitarist (Jerry Garcia) was widely considered to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
