 Oh no, it IS an insult, but I take it as a compliment. Because here in the UK, it means I stand out in general and from all my black peers. I know what I have to do to succeed, and following trends is not one of them. 
The people I know now at Uni and associate with like me for me and think I'm cool. And I didn't have to do a thing. Compared to the black guys at school who were trying so hard to be cool, but just looked dumb, naive and foolish.
