I think I saw an interview or something with Bonnie where she said that she'd been toying with the basic idea for "Teenage Dream" in her brain for a while before she decided to go to Katy with it and write it together. And in interviews they've both told pretty specific stories about how the writing process for the song went down. So at the very least I think Bonnie and Katy probably did an equal share of the writing for that song.
But then in interviews about stuff like "Wide Awake," she's awfully vague and gives complete non-answers and you have to wonder...
Also, iirc she once basically admitted to having written all of "Dynamite" while Taio and Luke went out to lunch despite Taio also having a writing credit on the song
The only way to ever know is to look at the spilt sheet (which wont happen) on that they list the percentage of what was written to keep track of the amount owed to each writer/ producer.
Not relating this to katy at all.
big name artists that didnt write any of a song will tell producers if you want your song on my album give me 10% writing credit and producers/writers will do it because a big artist will sell hundreds of thousands of cd's so giving them 10% and keeping 90% even though they didnt do anything is better than keep 100% and your song never coming out.
Another thing is artists, knowing that the only way to really make money is through publishing, will purposefully go and change one line in a completed song so that they can claim a percentage of the songwriting, that's probably what happened with Taio.
The song may say written by bonnie and taio, but really it could be written by bonnie (95%) and Taio (5%)
So I just got back from seeing Bonnie live and it was amazing. I got the American Girl CD single and she signed it, I almost died. I also got some real inside scoop **** from talking to her and hearing what others talked to her about afterwards, so here goes...
-
1. That picture of Bonnie and Katy at the piano earlier this year was actually them writing a song for Rihanna, which didn't happen apparently due to Katy and Rih having a falling out at the time.
2. She mentioned not being a fan of a certain major female artist, but I won't say who so as not to start a stan war.... but it was interesting to hear about.
3. The Sleepwalker video will be out for Halloween.
4. She's shooting a video soon for Stars In Your Heart, which is exciting because I absolutely love that demo. Not sure if it's a single, guessing it's for promo.
5. The album will be out at the top of year once AG (or whatever single is out) has gained enough momentum and garnered enough attention.

I can't believe this is still around! It's holding steady on Australian iTunes/airplay, and same with America. This still has a chance of smashing! She's so lucky radio has decided to get behind her.

Wow, so the falling out rumors were true! Interesting.
Also, I'm very happy for you. Was this your first time meeting Bonnie?
