That's not luck, though. She's giving her song enough time to get extra spins on radio that it doesn't debut too early on the Hot 100 (like WANEGBT or Roar did thanks to super early radio releases), but holding back the release so it debuts high when it's officially released. Artists used to do it around a week or more in 2008 (she even did that with "Womanizer)," but illegal downloading is so much easier now that waiting that long can end up losing out on longevity. She's promoting, holding back the release AND getting a radio deal, but not too early that it debuts early and also late enough that even if she doesn't gain too many spins the following Monday, she doesn't get a huge rolling effect thanks to her first day being a partial day. This is actually really well done. I was so sure they'd want till like a couple of hours after her performance like they did with Miley's and **** it up.
