Yes it is technical. Power, range, control, it's all technical. Which is why Mariah is considered the best vocalist of all time if not second best.

And belting is what makes you a vocalist instead of a singer. It's really the most important part of singing.

Demi - has a more versatile voice, more original sound, much more power & strength to her voice, arguably better high notes (even though more restricted than Ariana) better at belting, and conveys emotions better

Ariana - has a bigger range, has a more agile voice and is better at controlling her voice

Heart Attack is annoying as ****. She sounds like she's shouting and wailing during the "HEART ATTAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAAAAAAAAAAACK" part. If anything it just shows she should not do any more songs like that.

To me it sounds shouty. She's doing the same thing Christina is guilty of doing in some her songs.

Anyway, Demi >= Ariana. Ariana seems fairly similar vocally to me, but she sounds like a near exact copy of Mariah. Apart from the fact that Mariah is obviously better than Ariana. So that gives the edge to Demi for me.
Also, I just don't like Ariana's "Look at me I'm so innocent and girly" personality.

Christina is known for straining. Demi doesn't strain. Her belts are resonant and well supported, which basically makes it not a shout but an actual belt
