The reason I think she could hold off Avicii and Lorde is because they're both more or less new to the US market and won't be even nearly able to challenge her at radio, especially with "Roar" having good crossover appeal. It's a stretch, but if Katy plays her cards right with promo and helps sales and streaming, 8+ weeks could happen with radio's probably guaranteed support.

If anyone's a major threat between Avicii and Lorde, I'd say Lorde since her crossover appeal appears to be a bit stronger than Avicii's. Plus, Lorde has an album coming soon, and I think she's due to be promoting in the next few weeks. I don't think Avicii will bother to promote here in the States, so that could be a limiting factor against him
On the other hand, I think promotion and streaming, like you said, should keep "Roar" perched at #1 for some time. There's still the iHeartRadio festival next week (not sure how much that impacts iTunes) and the iTunes Festival at the end of the month.
