Bob Dylan was slaying (he's white)
Rolling Stones were slaying (they're white)
The Monkees SLAYED LIVES (they're white)
The Beatles had tons of competition. They just came out on top because they were the catchiest early on, then they solidified their legacy with the experimental middle years.
Exposure. Exposure. Exposure.
Black artists weren't being given fair shakes in comparison to white ones. They weren't being played on the radio as much, being booked for the best venues, nor were they on the nations most popular television networks as much as their white counterparts. And not everyone on that list has more than 2/3 number ones, meanwhile The Beatles occupied the top 5 of the Hot 100 at one point in time, that's just unheard of and really shouldn't even be possible, probability wise/statistically if they had so much competition on a supposed equal playing field.
I don't know why you're even arguing with this when during that time period, black people couldn't even drink from the same water fountains as white people or use the same bathrooms. This is common sense.
The Beatles their biggest competition was never going to be a negro even if the music was comparable "quality wise".

Speaking of cancer, anyone watch(ed) "The Big C"? The scene where the son discovers the storage locker
I hate The Big C so much. Poor, lovely Laura Linney making the leap to TV to star in that trash. Showtime's female lead dramedies used to be good but now, they all annoy me. The best one, United States of Tara, only lasted 2 seasons.

dddnn kinda proving my point.
You're right about the black artists, but they weren't the only competition.
Are you trying to say that they weren't good competition?
Yeah, there are people who like or love their music, but I'm talking about people like RobynYoBank (people who rep them).
I don't know why it's hard to believe that people generally love their music. Is no one supposed to like/love their music? And who cares in the grand scheme of things? Some of the stuff people stan for here wouldn't be caught on anyone's iPods on other forums, so...
If they're not under the age of 20 (or over the age of 20 and act like they're 12) with no talent, then likely most people around here want nothing to do with them.
tbh I think i like it because it's one of those songs you think was a smash hit when you were a kid but then you grow up and look on a pop forum and realize it didn't even chart well on Bubbling Under.
The Beatles had plenty of competition, artistic and commercially in the 60s (though no force has ever come commercially close to 1964 Beatles. Most of their real power has come through enduring appeal (like 70% of their record sales are from after 1980).
