Lady Gaga is the last popgirl that broke through as a successful artist, artists with a long, successful career inlcuding touring. In 1998 there was Britney Spears, in 2000 there were P!nk and Xtina, in 2001/2002 there were Shakira and Alicia Keys, in 2003 there was Beyonce, in 2005/2006 Rihanna, in 2008 there was Katy Perry and 2008 was also the year of Lady Gaga but after her?

Why? There were Carly Rae Jepsen, Jessie J and many more but no one seems to become as big as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna etc. Maybe it's too early for them to judge but also in 2010 there was Ke$ha and also she didn't make it happen.

And Ariana's CD is good, but it's not all that great. A lot of the songs sound the same, and she mimics Mimi's singing style waaaaay too much. Talented girl, though. She's much better than Miley, Demi and Selena, who get Rihanna's leftovers or are just bubblegum trash with only decent talent.
