Hmmm. ''Flatline'' is amazing! I love it. But if Swimming Pools is what you want from them it makes sense to dislike it. I guess they didn't want to become Solange x3 and release stuff that British radio might actually play (which they don't).

Don't fool yourself into thinking that! On SP she sings in this very strange, deep voice which sounds a bit weird (no sign of weakness for me) and on Flatline she doesn't have solo vocals. Maybe it's just that? Or am I being a naive stan?

It probably shipped 5 million, Nicole. Most sources acknowledge shipped sales as units sold. It's the only "accurate" way when dealing with WW sales.
