Well I may not be a fan of Applause, but it's kinda annoying how they are not playing the song and it has nothing to do with quality. Radio doesn't care about quality when it plays any song.

US Radio is clearly against Gaga right now and I don't think there is anything left to do in order to change that.
But what about Scream and Shout? I feel like it's in the same vein as Applause (sonically).
That was months ago, and "Scream & Shout" was radio fodder. Not that "Applause" isn't, but S&S is a lot more safer dance. There's not a lot of dance stuff on pop radio now.
I'm now starting to think she should throw out "Sex Dreams" to see if it sticks. Still not very confident in it, though.
That's not an excuse.
If the song is good, considering we're talking about a big pop star here, it's disappointing for it to peak under, let's say, 80M (even if its dance or not), nobody said the song will get to #1 or that it deserves that, but for it barely crossing 50M (dance song or not), considering Zedd and other new artist managed to get very big radio hits with dance songs, it's just disastrous.

Zedd & them released Dance tracks that weren't as generic as Applause though.
It would've worked as a song in 2011, but times have changed, musically.

It being generic is no excuse when Katy is smashing. That's not a read at Roar, just a statement that throwing around the word generic is irrelevant to radio.
To be honest guys, Gaga is very different now than she was when she debuted. (I know she evolved and get out of her egg) She was used to be fun but the GP in my country thinks she's weird and evil and a very known member of Illuminati (which I know is nonexistent) and she's against by most religion and in short she's some sort of demon. That's the opinion of the GP here not mine, and the radio stops playing her songs anymore here sans The Fame singles. And I think that may be the same for the US. She ruined her image, and I'm glad she's coming back with Applause which in my opinion is a way to get back the people's heart! Sad to say it is underperforming though!
But I will say, saying radio is against gaga is an exaggeration. They could easily just not play the song. I mean, We Can't Stop is a huge hit and radio payed it dust in comparison.

These are all things people have been saying since Alejandro though. And her most controversial song (to religious people) was her last biggest hit.
And I'm not talking about Judas. I think BTW, at the time, was more controversial overall.
