they just boost the streaming numbers
at least I never understood the huge deal around MVs
sure MTV is gonna play it more thus more people will hear it, but it's not like MTV plays music videos anymore and people are not gonna go out of their ways to look MVs on YouTube (unless it goes virals like Miley's WCS)

Music videos DO boost the sales. Whether it's a small or large boost, it's still an increase.
