My review of COMPLEXXX
I feel JASMINE is still on this "finding herself" route, and hasn't yet hit where she fits in in the J-Pop world! I get hints of Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro, then I get hints of Meisa Kuroki and ICONIQ, but I never get a hint of JASMINE. I rate on a curve for the artist, so you'll rarely see me give out a one star. But, aside from that, I really did enjoy this album; unfortunately, it just won't be something I go immediately back to.
"B*TCH*S" & "High Flying" are by far two of my favorite songs from her. "B*TCH*S" has that incredible production, amazing build-ups, and a hook that just don't quit. As for "High Flying", that hook alone slays me no matter what; it's the hook I immediately think of if anyone mentions JASMINE nowadays. And I am truly upset listening to "Touch me on the Beach" and "I Hate You" because while the former is just plain **** with a hot beat, the latter is a hot beat and verse with an unfortunate breakdown that truly kills my liking for the song.
As a whole, solid effort, needs to improve her identity and her delivery, and find a solid theme and roll with it.
