Well I guess quantifying its yearly sales as a percentage of overall album sales in those years wouldn't be a bad starting point for direct comparison.
21 did Thriller #s for our generation. It is too bad it had to be a songstress to get such a blockbuster era. It would have been more exicting if it was a popgurl who became such a phenomenon.
