The only annoying thing about Tik Tok (and also Die Young in a sense too) was it's longevity (which is also a good thing), but it was such a huge smash that it kind of shadows over the second single. But I agree TIO should've been the second single, and BBB shouldn't have been. Was that only released because of it's initial success?

How can it get to #7 on sales in a week? Don't US charts factor in radio play? BBB has always confused me

I remember when Animal came out, Take It Off was the most downloaded track in my country. Everybody I knew back then had it on their phones and computers and everybody loved it but they didn't know that was the same girl singing TiK ToK Some people even asked me if it was her debut single It would've done fantastic after TiK ToK

Yes but BBB was #1 on iTunes but debuted at #2 on HDS because TiK ToK had 2 version charting and blocked it from #1 on HDS but it had good sales and debuted at #7 on Hot 100

Ke$ha also makes some noteworthy moves on the Digital Songs chart as "Blah Blah Blah" (her follow – up single) featuring 3OH!3, debutes at No. 2 (206,000 downloads) while "TiK ToK" occupied the top slot with 252,000. She's the first artist to ever hold down the top two slots on that list with her first two singles and the first to do so at all.
|
I think there was somebody recently. Don't really remember who it was though, Or it was that the artist both had #1 on Hot 100 and Top 200, which Ke$ha also achieved

Blah Blah Blah confuses me though, it peaked when the album was released right? Not when it was actually released as a single?

Yep, it went to #1 on Itunes just being an album track, which still confused me

Ugh I know. Or YLIMD would've been great too. She probably would've had less hate too since most people seem to dislike Blah Blah Blah

Die Young didn't have that much longevity, mostly because the airplay dropped like a rock because of the shooting, could've had a lot of longevity though.
And I think so. It debuted at #7 on the Hot 100 so they probably though it would be a smash. It never got in the top 10 after

It had so much WW hit potential. It's an anthem.
The fact that it outsold the 2nd single is enough.

I meant like, forgetting the shooting. (Not in as horrible a way as that sounds )
But for a song released in September, to be #2 on the Hot 100 (I think?) and still charting high on radio and iTunes up until the shooting in December, was a very good run I think. If the shooting didn't happen the updates could've only been positive or neutral and not dramatically dropping off the radio millions of AI at one time, reducing her chances of that #1.
It also made them rush C'mon a bit too, performing at Xfactor/New Years before the song was even released/playing on radio. I dunno, the Die Young/C'Mon switchover was the biggest downfall of this era I think

Ke$ha did it with her debut single and album and I think only 1 person had done it before her but it was just some irrelevant bitch no one remembers so Ke$ha remains unbothered
But BBB spent 3 weeks at 11

And yes, Blah Blah Blah really did cost her a lot of momentum, especially worldwide. I blame the (superfluous) 3OH!3 feature -- it probably wouldn't have been so popular initially if their name wasn't on it to lure in buyers. Remember, guys, they had struck gold with Don't Trust Me mere months before, so people who liked that and TiK ToK were probably curious to hear BBB. This demand resulted in it becoming the second single.

Well, sales counted way more a few years ago. But if the sales of the song enough, it can still debut high in the HOT 100, look at Taylor's promo singles.
Blah Blah Blah was #2 on the digital chart and had enough sales to debut at #7 even without airplay

I always thought the fact that 3Oh!3 was on BBB that they made it want to be the next single? (It helped?)

Just reading to some old articles
Quote:
As her debut album "Animal" opens at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" remains at the top of The Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth week. The singer becomes the first act to simultaneously take its debut album and single to No. 1 on both charts since Leona Lewis led the lists with "Spirit" and "Bleeding Love," respectively, on the chart dated April 26, 2008.
Ke$ha also makes some noteworthy moves on the Digital Songs chart as "Blah Blah Blah," featuring 3OH!3, debuts at No. 2 (206,000 downloads) while "TiK ToK" occupies the top slot with 252,000. She's the first artist to ever hold down the top two slots on that list with their first two singles and the first to do so at all since Black Eyed Peas in July, with "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling." "Blah Blah" meanwhile debuts in the top 10 of the Hot 100, coming in at No. 7.
Download sales of Ke$ha's 14 tracks from "Animal" total 694,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, with "Your Love Is My Drug" (101,000) and "Take It Off" (36,000) also ranking among the top 75-selling titles for the week while additionally debuting on the Hot 10

I'm just reading MCBL and there's so many lyrics from unreleased songs and Love Into The Light lyrics
"I've got this question, yeah,
It's been burning through my head.
Who's teaching that different love is so wrong,
We'd be better off dead?"

She didn't have a chance at #1 anymore but she def would've had been in the top 10 a lot longer.
And yeah, C'Mon would've flopped anyways but not as bad if it Die Young hadn't been dropped.
