At first, I started out as this cute dumb label owner who (I think was likeable) just cared about my quality of my promo. But as the game has been progressing I really let my ego get the best of me + I've become a chart-obsessed extreme bitch. Carly covered Tegan & Sara's smash hit 'Closer' during Act II of the concert. In a cute striped pair of shorts and a vintage cropped tea, Carly Rae sang a very fresh and original take of the song by the duo she collaborated with on the album. The crowd jumped with Carly during the chorus, the singer loving the response from the crowd
Almost There:
After covering "Closer" earlier during the set, Carly now surprised her fans by actually bringing out Tegan and Sara on stage and performing the song they had written for her new album. Announcing them, she called the twins 'some of the best friends I have in the business' as well as saying that they were 'among the most talented people I've ever met'. The crowd went wild after those sweet words of friendship, and Tegan and Sara entered the stage under loud cheering and whistling, greeting Carly with a heartfelt hug before the band started to play the song. The enchanting bubblegum pop tune with indie influences had everyone dancing in no time, including the three performers on stage, who were sharing vocal duties and harmonizing with each other like they'd never done anything else.
The song ended, only to be celebrated again by the crowd loudly voicing their approval, and Tegan did a little speech, grateful for the warm welcome as well as thanking Carly for the invitation. "This was actually the first time we've ever sung this song, Sara and I, because we gave it to Carly before we even recorded a demo of it. But I guess we didn't do too shabby", she grinned, "and we couldn't be more happy with what Carly did with it!" The crowd agreed, starting another standing ovation, which only died down as Carly herself took the mic again.
"Thank you for making Tegan and Sara feel right at home", she said, then causing the audience to erupt in even more screaming with her next words. "And I'm having so much fun on stage with my friends right now, I think we should perform another song together! Let's go!"
And with that, the first notes of another familiar tune started playing:

Tegan and Sara's smash single from their current album 'Heartthrob' was immediately recognized by large parts of the audience, who started clapping along with the beat and waved their hands in the air. Impressing with effortless vocals, the three girl performers sounded beautiful together, perfectly accompanying and harmonizing with each other yet still leaving one another enough space to show off their skills. Carly did the second verse by herself, much to the joy of the audience who cheered her on, and once the final chorus kicked in, there could be heard a faint singalong coming from the first row which was later rewarded with several high fives and handshakes handed out by Tegan and Sara when they left the stage again.
It was an impressive collaboration, demonstrating how easily both artists are able to adjust to different settings and arrangements, and also how well they actually work together, and that their friendship is nothing but genuine. “We wish you all the best with your new album, Carly”, Sara said before their exit. “And we can't wait to see the rest of the show now. It has been an amazing evening so far. Everyone, give it up for Carly Rae Jepsen!” The twins left, and Carly continued her mesmerizing performance.
Just What I Need
One of the new songs from her album was performed titled Just What I Need. The love song very reminiscent of the sound of the songs on her debut album, Tug of War. The crowd watched the singer perform the personal song in awe as she moved around the stage somberly, serenading the audience.
Part Of Your World (Little Mermaid Cover)
Carly then sang a cover of 'Part Of Your World' by the Little Mermaid. Carly went on to explain how much the song meant to her growing up and she performed a sped up version of the classic, keeping it in it's original arrangement though.
Teenage Dream (with Katy Perry)
Carly Rae Jepsen took to the stage, singing the first verse of Teenage Dream to a roar from the audience. Katy Perry then joined Carly on stage to sing her past #1 from her biggest album Teenage Dream. The crowd sang along with Carly, making both of the singers smile.
Little Poems:
Carly's smash hit, Little Poems, was the last song she performed at her long show at the Staples Center. The singer got the audience waving their hands with her as she serenading the crowd of 18k the catchy bittersweet lyrics of Little Poems. Confetti flew from the sky and rockets, sending the venue into excitement and a electric atmosphere.
