She has elements of Rock but never had a proper rock song, she has some electro elements but not Electro or house song.

In other words she takes risks by bringing new influences on the table, but not BIG ones by changing her whole genre.

And if she took too much of a risk there could be a risk the GP won't be here for it
So I'd rather a successful reggae flavoured song like What's My Name than a 100% reggae song that might flop

To that someone who's saying Rihanna cannot turn her versatility in her live performance. That is utter subjective. Rihanna has had her good and bad moments, but that's not what this thread is all about. If you say so, three years ago, Rihanna performed in American Idol with three different songs of different genre: Rockstar 101, CKB and WHYB. And she does pull off those performances. I can't really but that argument that she's not versatile when it comes to live singing.

To me Beyonce doesn't even try to be versatile or different. She has her signature look and musical style and she's comfortable sticking to it. But let her stans tell it, she has done every genre under the sun and her songs/albums are completely different. It's ok for Beyonce to not be the best at everything. I think that's what this comes down to.

Rihanna has no musical no roots tbh, maybe because she had no creative control in her early years. Destiny's Child always had creative control even while recording their first album. That's when Beyoncé came up with her signature sound. So for Bey, R&B is where she'll always feel comfortable. I think Rihanna is more at ease singing reggae-pop songs.

I don't want to get into Rihanna's vocals, because I don't think they're good at all (though there's improvement), but Beyoncé's vocals at 25 were impeccable, so it's not just experience, but training.
