Rihanna has no musical no roots tbh, maybe because she had no creative control in her early years. Destiny's Child always had creative control even while recording their first album. That's when Beyoncé came up with her signature sound. So for Bey, R&B is where she'll always feel comfortable. I think Rihanna is more at ease singing reggae-pop songs.
I don't want to get into Rihanna's vocals, because I don't think they're good at all (though there's improvement), but
Beyoncé's vocals at 25 were impeccable, so it's not just experience, but training.
