No matter what rules are enforced, SYG users will never be satisfied.
Why try catering to an impossible crowd?
The fact that the thread is that bad should only be another incentive to close it.

Closing SYG just ends a safespace (The kii of the use of that word) for members who had a place to vent out all of their anger and frustrations about pop girls. Closing it will just cause more and more outbursts in other places of the forum, including ATRL HQ itself. Would you rather have different threads in the main part of the forum (That basically represent the site) be disrupted by offensive comments, drags and racism or have a whole thread dedicated to that to prevent the site from being riddled with flamebait and trolling?

The mods closed it because there were too many complaints.
It may have been about racism this time, but the complaints have been about many other topics before - racism, sexism, suicide, mental illness, etc. you name it, which is WHY there has been rules about them at said time.
If you were present then (which I THINK you were), you would know this.

Hah, I'm definitely requesting a perma if SYG is closed for good. ATRL is literally nothing but a repetitive boring circle-jerk without it, all those unnecessary strict rules, passive-aggressiveness, etc. At least there was ONE thread for one to express how he really feels regarding certain topics.

The same was said about NHB, but there wasn't some spike in personal insults unless you (ironically) looked in SYG.
But then again, SYG's rules were pretty much dropped then - things escalated quickly.

Also, they were pretty satisfied with the ape jokes aimed at Rihanna despite the fact that no one blinked an eye when they have been made towards Beyonce for years. I mean, they were Alexz's main insult for the entirety of 2011-2012.
Honestly, if literally everything except personal insults directly to members was allowed, things would be fine. If you can't handle the immature content in the thread (And no, the thread is not representative of ATRL so it's not like it's giving us more of a bad name), then people shouldn't go in there anymore.
Remember, now, I'd normally bitch about racism, homophobia, transphobia and so on, but this is an issue. If we don't have a thread like this, even though racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. are awful, people will make posts throughout other parts of the forum (Whether it be a prejudice insult like the three types I listed earlier & more, or a post just saying "YOUR FAVE DIDN'T GO #1 THEY FLOPPED") that will disrupt the flow if any thread completely. There needs to be a place so people let out their frustrations.
And offensive comments aside, it's fun to get some kiis out of an artist flopping every now and then.
