So what? A flop is a flop. It didn't sell. It's Britney Spears. According to her stans, she's the queen of pop and a legend, so I'd expect any new single of hers to debut at #1 with at LEAST 500k in sales
But Gaga is supposedly the Queen of Pop and she debuts on the Hot 100 with 400k> sales and at #6?
OK...I've known a fair amount about the next era for a while but I'm not sure how much I should really say. But after last night, I wanna speak up and clear up a few things...I don't think I'd have been told anything the source wasn't OK with people knowing...there's an assumption in Britneyland that nobody outside of the 'inner circle' (Britney, Larry, will, big-name producers, etc) can really keep a secret, and that everything career-related will leak somehow if people talk, so the people who REALLY know specifics, the stuff they REALLY don't want known until it's time...ARE NOT TALKING (which leads me to think the other 'insider' is EXAGGERATING, despite his highly accurate details on some aspects). I am not some 'higher-up' in Britneyland. I just know a key figure, and I seriously doubt that they're lying. If I'm not sure about something, or if something isn't totally clear to me, I will say that...
I posted this in the other thread but I think it deserves its own thread...
So...
Just for fun (and I'm not saying everything I know, out of respect for my source), here's what I can confirm...
On the album itself...the album is heavily inspired by Blackout and In the Zone. It is easily her most personal since In the Zone, and there will be lots and lots of Britney writing credits. It's her most personal record since In the Zone, and the sex/partying/dancing aspect will be played down. She's inspired about her music again in a way that she hasn't been since Blackout, and she's excited for the fans to hear it. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't her most involved and active era since In the Zone. The fans are gonna love it. The album isn't nothing like Femme Fatale..there will still be some generic dance tracks...but they're really good, and will have a classic Britney feel. The album did NOT have a title as of a week ago. If anything has changed in the past week, I genuinely do not know. Britney loves Rihanna's recent work and looked to We Found Love and DIamonds for inspiration. Also, the Miley Cyrus collab is 100% real...yeah it's Larry's doing but Britney doesn't mind. As for the era...the 'futuristic' theme is legit, and will tie in to the Vegas residency. Think of a 2013 Oops video, except not so cheesy and silly.
Her dancing...it is never going to be like it was. It's just not. Her dancing is a strange situation with no single explanation (it's a combination of things), and fans really need to give her a break on that issue. There will be improved dancing this era, but the Onyx days are over, period. Britney doesn't really think her dancing most of the time is really that bad, though...which it's not...it's just not like it was in 2004.
Her involvement...Britney loves singing, writing, and dancing. She really does. She enjoys performing for her fans. She hates promoting. Hates it, hates it, hates it. Doesn't like magazine interviews, doesn't like photoshoots, doesn't like meet-and-greets. Can I put it this way? She loves music, she loves performance, but she is sick of being Britney Spears, World Superstar Pop Icon. Overall, though, Britney is MUCH more involved than people give her credit for. Those interviews from MTV and such with producers that talk about how professional she is are very true. She knows a lot about pop music and the pop industry and doesn't give herself enough credit for her talents. But she will go out of her way to fight for what she wants. Very little is imposed on her, artistically. (By the way, for all the talk about how the 'original' Femme Fatale was scrapped, which is true, Britney still enjoyed the final Femme Fatale more than she enjoyed Circus. And she loves working with Max Martin.) She is not afraid to say NO if she doesn't like a song, performance/video concept, single choice, etc.
Britney is mostly "free" to do what she wants, but there are some serious limitations. I'm not going to say anything about the conservatorship; the details are not the general public's business, and she'll reveal all on her own schedule. Hopefully it will all be over sometime in the mid-term future. But in general...she does not look at herself as this Pop Queen and cares far, far more about being a good mom than about being a good pop star. Her kids are her life. She loves them more than anything. Her daily life is pretty routine, though, which is how she likes it. She does have friends and people who care about her, and she's in a much better place now than a few years ago. She's still the same Britney as before...just...a lot more private. And there's a lot (like her mental health) that is very private and that she doesn't think is anyone's damn business (certainly not goddamn Oprah's).
Oh, and...Britney knows about Exhale. For the sake of not starting a shitstorm, I'm not going to say what she thinks of most of the board. But please stop calling her "Godney." Also, Adam Leber reads Exhale every single day.
As for the single? I don't know anything about the first single. I'm as excited as the rest of you! I'm a fan, too!
This isn't a Q&A session but I'll answer questions I think are worth answering.
Anybody excited about Knee's next era as much as I am?
Best live performance of the most beautiful, flawless song in existence .
This is why she scores multiple 4x platinum digital singles while Britney has none, why her albums sell 5m+ while Britney can't break 2m, why her tours top $150m while Britney can't hit $70m.
Ooh La La, if sung by Katy, would have been a double plat hit. It's just that kids don't care about Britney at all, especially after how boring she was in the Xfactor. If the smurfs were actually expecting Ooh La La to be a hit, they picked the right person. Even Gaga would have been a better choice, since the kid minorities love her. Britney should be singing the soundtrack to something directed towards mostly 20 year olds.
You're right. This is Gaga's second week with the song it; it failed to chart the first week.
You can't criticize a fanbase/artist for calling that artist the "Queen of Pop" and then a SOUNDTRACK SONG doesn't chart well when you call your fave the Queen of Pop and ha lead single that's had the **** hyped out of it goes #6 with less than 400k sales.
The hypocrisy.
But death at the "MEGA #1 SMASH" lead single that was supposed to "make [us] **** ourselves" only going #6. Monsters, why didn't you back Gaga up?
dkm They didn't realize those weak numbers for "Judas", "Hair", "Edge of Glory" "You and I", "Marry the Night" and BTW's second week was all she'll be doing from this point on. Ariana, Miley and Demi will enjoy GaGa's company.

Britney shouldn't be a promotional team's first choice for any movie soundtrack unless it's a twink ****o
