This thread made me rewatch almost all VMA performances by Britney..

And I gotta say.. NO ONE, LITERALLY NO ONE came close to what Britney did in that young stage of her age, seriously, her performances were ON POINT, and no one could deliver like this so far.

Of course there are great Beyoncé and P!nk performances, but none of those give me the vibes like old Britney used to give me..

Between Gaga and Britney, it's definitely Gaga. She's more relevant right now for simple fact that she get more headlines if both attended.
The last time Britney impacted the VMAs was a decade ago. There's an expiration date for VMA queen status. Madonna ceased being queen in mid 2000's.

Beyonce is the current reigning queen, Gaga is a few years short. Beyonce's success and relevance stayed about consistent since she began and has always been a highlight of the VMAs.

Britney will probably win just because this is ATRL, but I think it's Gaga. The meat dress is more memorable than the snake, the kiss, and the supposedly 'iconic' 2000 performance put together. And obviously she's won more awards.

I don't really think it's delusional since it's been so long since the kiss happened that people barely even remember it. Some pop culture moments stand the test of time. That probably won't. The meat dress will probably always be associated with Gaga, though.
