Bill, if you were in the same profession of working for Billboard in the '90s, would you have been against the idea of airplay only tracks being omitted from the Hot 100 - i.e. No Doubt's "Don't Speak", Sugar Ray's "Fly", The Cardigans' "Lovefool"? Record companies were extremely greedy trying to get consumers to buy full albums for just one song (which continued pretty much until the digital boom in 2006).

The radio vs sales correlation has always been so interesting. It seems logical that both groups would overlap tremendously, but not in a lot of cases for unknown reasons.

As for indie, like true indie, Bright Eyes/wide awake its morning is a top 10 or 20 album for me. Tom waits, cloud nothings, Alabama shakes are all in recent heavy rotation. ..
