Britney. Gaga only has one memorable performance and Britney has 4.
Gaga kinda lost her VMA credibility with that Jo crap, but she could back in the race this year depending on how it goes.
I can't at people saying Paparazzi wasn't memorable though, the delusion.
Exactly. Outside of the Paparazzi performance from four years ago and the meatdress, GaGa has NOTHING at the VMAs.
And Beyonce stans need to stop bringing Beyonce up. Outside of exploiting her only child on live television, she typically avoids the VMAs because she, herself, acknowledges how much of a non-factor she is there. Though, this Single Ladies performance is her BEST:
Britney easily. Gaga had a memorable outfit in 2011 and a memorable performance in 2009. Britney had memorable outfits for years and multiple iconic performances. There's literally no contest, even if Gaga ends up smashing this year's VMAs and putting something out as big as Madonna's original performance.

Neither. Rihanna is. The two VMA's for VOTY don't lie, and Umbrella was so huge they made an award just for it

I really hope you're both joking or else I was not prepared for the level of delusion in this thread.

The one bringing in the raitings
That would actually be Britney. She saved ratings in the early 2000s, then saved the entire show in 2007 and again in 2011. Stop clamoring over someone else's awards.

I don't think that Beyonce avoids them because she is a non-factor there... I mean .. what are you even talking about? She has 12 Moonmen.
She just doesn't go on stage kissing Madonna, wearing an exotic animal, killing herself, dressing like a man etc. Beyonce is not about shock she's about prowess.
And she was in no way exploiting her child. She had to announce the pregnancy somehow. Why not do it in a unique and memorable way? She's a performer, and it was a means of communication. Cynics would say its exploitation but thats like saying a woman is exploiting her child for likes by announcing her pregnancy on Facebook.
But yes, performance wise that Single Ladies performance was better than anything Gaga or Britney has done at the VMAs in both choreography and vocals.
The reason it's clearly Britney is because the kind of attention that Gaga seems to be seeking by going all out at the VMAs is the kind that Britney pioneered. And with Britney although attention was surely a goal for what she did, it felt a bit more natural to her. Maybe it's my generation but I can't remember any iconic VMA performances prior to Britney. Does anyone know of any? Madonna's vogue comes to mind, but that's about it.
Dead @ Gaga even being a poll option when she has zero iconic moments. Clearly the answer is Britney.
Come on. Gaga is SURELY a contender here.
The Meat Dress is one of the most iconic pop moments in the last couple years, if not the most iconic, and possible as iconic as the Madonna kiss and the snake.
Jo and Paparazzi never reached the level of attention that some of Britney's moments did but they are still going to be well remembered and talked about.
