I hope the Hot 100 keeps looking like this. Some real diversity. We have a poppy song possibly dethroning an R&B hit, interspersed with a 2.5 minute movie soundtrack hit, some dancey songs, alternative music, and rock.
This is how the charts should look. Not just insert-pop-female over and over.

It IS generic, and actually not ahead of its time, it sounds dated.
But still it is NOT reletable. Thats why i think it is underperforming.
Egomaniacs and attention seekers can relate, due the nature of the lyrics. I don't think its relatable capabilities are the reason behind its underperformance though. But we can only guess.
I feel like the VMAs is her only chance for a #1 now though
