First of all, this proves you are honest and, even at such kind of industry position, you still genuinely likes or dislikes this or that, and I salute you for that!

Second of all, I am not gonna ask anything, some of my friends have already asked many things I was curious about, so I'd just like to say thank you for taking the time to be here with us - and on Twitter as well - as I'm pretty sure it would be much easier to just ignore what "outsiders" like us think and do.
P.S.1: Please, ignore the crazy members.
P.S.2: Welcome to the Britney Army.

Bill, do you think that an "American Bandstand / TRL" type of music show would work in today's TV climate?

Is it possible, in your or anyone's position, to predict what the next 'mainstream genre' will be?

I was going to ask about Applause being experimental.
But was already asked and answered. I'm so happy that
Gaga is experimenting in mediocrity.
but stan for Britney!

i also suspect you'll see more EPs and other strategies for getting music to market.

This bugs me, the album format is awesome it needs to evolve into a new physical media to rebound.

follow the logic? you can feel free to disagree. but thats the reasoning.

Thanks you, Bill. I understand the reasoning, but nonetheless disagree.

I was thinking about it the other day I think it's the perfect way to make music cheaper and still have quality and success. I hope some big artists like Rihanna and Gaga can make some EPs in the future.

Hey Bill!
Anyways my question is about streaming is threefold.
1. What is the specific way you filter out repeat youtube views from your streaming numbers? Streaming numbers always seemed low compared to the views on youtube that you would have expected to come from the USA. I had been told that you only count so many views per device, per day.
2. Do you feel streaming has the potential to be too powerful as a way to rise up the charts. I have this concern for several reasons...... I feel that uptempo tracks have a disproportionately high chance of going viral, which seems unfair for ballads. I question as to whether those views are really about the music, or if they are about the spectacle of the video.
3. Also.... with Radio Airplay (and to a lessor extent sales) there seems to be a ceiling as to how high the numbers can go. Meaning that theoretically you would only get say..... 2-3x the regular points from those categories if your song is doing VERY well. On the other hand Harlem Shake showed that there is NO ceiling for how many point towards the H100 you can get from streaming. Doesn't this expose the chart to potential abuse by artists simply looking to get a momentary gimmick song to go viral?

still, if im a betting man, i think you'll hear some big rock breakouts in the coming couple of years and top 40 will once again be hospitable to guitars - even if they are awash in effects a la Imagine Dragons.

Wow it would be awesome if that actually happens!!

Hey Bill, thank you for choosing ATRL as your pop culture forum.
I want to ask if you're a fan of Ellie Goulding and if you can see her becoming huge in the US?

Hello Billiam, do you think Super Bass could have got to #1 if the streaming rules were in effect back then?
Also do you think we will get an official 1st single from Beyonce before 2014?

Bill, what is your stance on ageism in music?
It seems the older an artist gets, the harder it is for them to gain success and garner the public's attention. For some reason 40 is that number that still needs to be cracked. It is getting harder for artists like Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, and Madonna to get hits and ageism seems to be a big player in this. Why is this so? Are radio stations and the younger generation just afraid to give older artists a chance? Besides age, I can't seem to find a difference between music from the artists I listed compared to, say, Rihanna, P!nk, and Lady Gaga. Thanks

Bill, what are your thoughts on Rihanna's album to singles ratio in the US? With seven albums released, Rihanna is nearing 10M albums in the US and approximately 50M singles. That's a 1:5 ratio.
Do you think that in this day and age, where an artist is only as big as his or her latest hit, and where albums are no longer at the front and center, that Rihanna is at an advantage by pumping out hit after hit despite the less-than-stellar album sales?
