"Circus" performed excellently, but if they had just held off until January/February, like "Toxic", it wouldn't have been stuck in the teens on the Hot 100 and got more weeks in the top ten. It also would've been benefited the album's life span a bit more in 2009, with it and "Amy" in the mid-Spring instead of being confirmed in late January/early February.

My original vote was lead single on September 9th, but home girl is too late for that. Britney has always had a big problem with selling-power after her album is released so I think we need the second single the week before the album. If the lead single is going to hit #1, it should be #1 around the week of November 11th. Katy's second single will be dragging "Roar" down from the #1 spot and I don't see "Applause" as a huge threat for the #1 on pop.
I'm hoping Britney holds back the video release till December 9th/16th. It'll help the second single rebound after the album release and help both of her singles rise for holiday sales.
