If the base thread gets just slightly too offtopic we won't warn anyone or close the thread. We'll just make a post in the base thread to say to keep it on topic or something. We'll only really warn or even close when it's gotten to the point that it's hard to argue against it being way too offtopic.
I know there's not an obvious line and therefore it can be hard to see what crosses the line. But that's why we are usually fairly lenient in this. The only advice I can give you is to really just keep an eye out for it. To make sure the thread is still mostly being used to talk about the artist, and not as a chatroom. We hardly ever warn for offtopic in Base threads, because most realize when to stop.
I honestly can't see how the Nicki base is closed because of the on-topic/off-topic seperation being hazy. The Nicki base got to a point far past that hazy seperation.

Can you guys like CLOSE registration? These new members are making a mess of themselves and I doubt they'll follow the rules.
Eventually registration will stay open for good. The reason we are doing it periodically now is to test to make sure the software/server can handle it. So the troublesome ones now will get banned eventually if they don't follow the rules and someone new will replace them lol
And registration is currently open at the moment iirc
