iTunes album chart, even in biggest markers, is hardly a factor in terms of overall sales.
Those "ATRPOOP is #1 in 8765436 countries!!!!!" would not contribute to more than 5-10k sales.
Roar sells that in a couple of hours in US alone, so no, Applause does not sell more than Roar in any shape or form in US or WW.

Why does everyone say this? Sure, everyone was disgusted by the fact that the album shamelessly milks that, but every prominent reviewer said Nobody's Business was a (the) highlight of the album.
