The video will increase the sales for "Applause", so I'm fine with this.
Congrats to both of them. I love both of the songs.

What I'm still wondering is why "Applause" is not doing so good. I mean, I'm gonna be honest, you know me and you know I'm a Katy fan and I love her. With these big realeses in the same week, I was afraid for Katy because yeah, she's a huge digital force but all thi happened so fast that I thought it was gonna sell decent 300k+ It just exploded and made me realise how Katy became the Queen of America.
In the other hand, I really like "Applause" for me it's one of her best songs ever and the song is soo good, so pop, son enjoyable, I love it. First day (Tuesday) I was on a pharmacy and they put it on radio, it was like a premiere. I was shocked, it was surprising how I was so into the song. It's a strong single material. It's fun, I really feel it was her comeback. The way you don't get anything on the chorus reminds me of "We Can't Stop" by Molly, it's wonderful, I don't give a damn what she says, but it's fun and cool, and have a good time. The verses are not that good, but still

I don't believe sources that act unprofessional lol. If you read the article, you'll know what I mean.
& iTunes tells us? no lol, iTunes wouldn't report it.

Not all of you clocking examiner at the same time.
700K is too much of a reach. 600K I would believe tho, but Robin's already 60% of her in iTunes.

Because it's dated. Katy released the type of song that would do well in 2003, 2013, and 2023. It's your typical solid pop song. Gaga released a basic song from a genre whose popularity has died down considerably. And now she's paying for it.

Agreed. Although, both could be selling quite high, or both could be selling quite low. Popbars doesn't really give an idea of how much it's selling. Both will probably get a boost from the weekend, even if Katy still has a 60% lead.

Katy never takes risks and her image is squeaky clean. It's not shocking why America, which is somewhat conservative, supports her and Taylor Swift.
Gaga had strong opening sales and beat Katy in nearly every market, but then two days later saw a turn of events, because radio isn't playing Gaga's song on repeat like Katy's. Maybe things will change next week when radio starts playing Gaga (like Gaga said for what it's worth) or people see the music video.

Taylor was the queen of country-pop and released a single with dubstep and then performed it whilst gyrating the floor, so yeah. Just because She doesn't release literally noise as Her singles and She doesn't go on about how she doesn't care about commercial success doesn't make Her musically conservative or safe!

Gaga isn't some indie avant garde artist. She was on top of the world including USA and doing crazy things.

Hm or maybe people prefer them because their music isn't outdated + something you can only enjoy after inhaling poppers at a gay bar? Just some thoughts.

Taylor has almost always been pop, and her fan base is made of teenage girls, not southern country fans. They were not going to leave if she started using some dubstep sounds. Nothing Taylor has done non-musically has been risqué, lol.

She was during TF/M. That was years ago.

Yes, and nothing has changed that makes her less mainstream than other artists except mediocre songs.

Oh were you just listening and not watching her during the Born This Way era? There a lot of aspects from that era the public couldn't relate to.
She has to find a way to change people's opinions. One song released four days ago isn't going to be enough, so people here should probabaly stop expecting instant success.
