Katy doubled the sales of OOTB and Gaga just had TFM so...
And btw, Gaga's singles are commercial as well.

Born This Way, despite being a dance song, was banned/blacklisted in some places. Judas was blacklisted for it's subject content and actually offended a lot of people. You and I was a huge risk considering Gaga is a popstar releasing a rock/country song. So, yes, theoretically Gaga's singles are commercial, but they are usually also risky/controversial, which turns a lot of people off. Katy's singles are FAR more commercial and radio-friendly than Gaga's.

Is that a joke? Applause is a straight up dance pop single, isn't that suppose to be her return to the "fun" music the fame era? Oop
Lame excuse

Just seen Katy has released Roar in Ireland, but it's 99 cents instead of the usual 1.29. Katy wants that number 1.

It's clear whose name is selling more is what I meant.
If Gaga was the biggest pop star in the world as people were claiming her to be, she should be able to sell at least WELL OVER HALF of what Roar is projected to sell, not barely just.

nnnnnn everyone in this thread getting defensive. I was actually complimenting Katy by saying that Roar is easier to like than Applause. For me, Applause is a grower. People like Roar immediately. What's got y'all on pins and needles?

So? BTW is an empowerement Pop song let's even not gurl.
We all know China is messy and not only for Gaga.
Judas is a Bad Romance rip-off so...
You & I has country influences, yeah sure it was really risky to release a country song in the US.
And why don't you mention MTN? you know, the commercial song that flopped hard.
Nothing was risky about Born This Way, stop with that.

OK, but Gaga's not even #2 ww anymore lol.
And I don't why you're bringing up BTW and TD like I care. Gaga had ENORMOUS selling power during the BTW days because she just came off having the BEST SELLING ALBUM WORLDWIDE of 2010. Of course BTW was going to sell crap loads. YES you can flaunt all you want about how similarly BTW and TD performed but Katy's doing better right now.
Applause opening week sales (will) prove BTW has damaged her brand far more than her fans would have you believe and now she no longer has the selling power she used to and now Gaga needs to prove that a) She can still put out songs as iconic as PF or BR, b) She can still put out iconic music videos, and c) She can still put on iconic performances.
She has so far failed a) so she better BRING IT for the video and performance.

Agree with all of that, actually. I'm not oblivious to the fact that Gaga is in a weird place right now and she has A LOT to prove. I just don't think it can be determined that Katy is "bigger" than Gaga after 5 days of sales. Anything could happen, according to the good sis Ellie G

Applause is a catchy electro dance song so I don't know how it's a grower for you. And even if it was, surely the name Lady Gaga should've made more people buy it more than 200k+, no?

Obviously it does define the status of each other. The one whos selling more actually is more powerful. STOP with these poor excuses and START to assimilate.
