I really think it's crazy how much you Monsters are overestimating Gaga. 5 years ago, no one knew her name. She's a new artist, who made a meteoric rise, yes, but IS STILL A FAIRLY NEW ARTIST. She is NOT a legend on the level of Madonna or even Britney. Right now, she's just a flash in the pan who can very easily, in 10 years, be "that woman who was everywhere in 2010 and kinda disappeared afterwards." BTW destroyed a crap load of her credibility, which this early in her career is NOT GOOD. Applause should, as a song, be bringing her back to at least The Fame level of love - a song that you hate to love because it's just so darn good BUT IT'S NOT.
The fact that this song's debut week sales will be in the range of the recent lead singles of Selena, Demi, Miley, and Ariana, while Katy's will be in the usual range for a major pop girl, should tell you a PLETHORA of things, but obviously it's because of the drag queens, the "no hype" and the "~~~experimental, unpredictable" nature of the song that is contributing to it's current mediocre success.
Gaga NEEDS the music video and performance to slay, or else move on to her second single ASAP.
