It is probably better to compare to LAP. This is Gags 4th release/era after all. Besides, LAP was done after a Madonna year off/hiatus just like ARTPOP. Ironically, Rolling Stone mag hailed the LAP album "as close to art as pop music gets". Must be a coincidence.

a lot of "big voices" cover madonna songs and they always fail miserably.. there is something about madonna's voice, her personality.. that just clicks with every one of her songs. all her songs are HERS.

I can hear Mary's loud, raspy, cross-Atlantic wails over the instrumental right now. It would not sound good.

I just thought that maybe Whitney could carry LAP, but then LAP is much too dark a song for her.

I think she is poking fun at materialism and just the ridiculous amount of opulence with fame. and how some are not meant to have it and be "royal".
