I heard someone describe applause as a throwback to her old sound, not sure if it was on the bbc news app or where but I cringed when I read it. It's very generic, but not like her work on TF/TFM IMO. I'm not sure why people are over analysing so much. You were on here years ago when Miley flopped with can't be tamed and everyone said she was done. She had a huge hit this year out of nowhere. Kelly had a big hit last year out of the blue too. Gaga needs to release a song that's worthy of success in order to have it. I think the song is more important than the artist, and if you look at the charts over the past year or so it's a reflection of that.
