Like, let's be real, we all know that with Robin and Katy also performing at the VMA's, Gaga won't go to #1, and if the video DOES come out on Monday, we'll see if she can deliver something that can actually help the song.

And I haven't a clue what other promotional spots there are that can help her have a big boost. Because the next big promo spot is the AMA's in November.

And if radio isn't picking it up quickly now, it won't pick up the song any faster on August 19th when the add date is.

That's the thing about charting not necessarily equating to what's impacting.

At this point, neither song is making an impact yet.

IMO her breakthrough moment was when Just Dance smashed and people were like who is this girl and I love this song . The VMA was her breakthrough performance to show that she can perform and not just a studio artist

I think what's funny is all those "Gaga has the biggest fanbase EVER!!! She will easily debut with over 600k first week!!!," as if Gaga isn't dependent on the general public like any other artist around. She has only proven to be a big first week seller with BTW, and ironically, that's the era when she started slipping with the general public as far as longevity goes.

That video better be flawless and that performance better overshadow every artist. Robin, Katy and Miley are all in the top 10 and performing as well.

It's a great electropop song. A lot of the same people bashing it now were praising it before Katy stomped her.
But yes it might be my least favorite lead of hers as well. I'd go as far as preferring the first three singles from BTW (even the messy title track) over Applause, they felt a bit more substantial.
