Part of Me was just bad, and it snowballed to Wide Awake (although WA also just wasn't too clubby and seemed more adult-oriented, hence why it had a stellar run at Adult Contemporary instead)

Isn't LFN her last Top 10 hit on the format? I think The One That Got Away could have gone to #1 on The Hot 100 if the Rhythmic play had been higher
Roar seems more adult orientated than clubby too imo. And those kinds of songs haven't crossed over to Rhythmic lately well either. Stuff like We Are Young and Somebody That I Used To Know did fairly well for what they were.
But stuff like that lately like Just Give Me A Reason and Radioactive which would have done well in 2011 or 2012 haven't done well on that format now. I don't think the last two Maroon 5 singles have charted either.
I think a lot of the more pop leaning rhythmic stations which were the ones playing those kinds of songs and they got moved to the pop panel
RITD, PUK, WAY, and STIUTK being alternative crossovers to Rhythmic was more due to their overall popularity than actually being fit for the format. Good point about some stations getting moved from Rhythmic to Mainstream. We'll see though. I'm not one to underestimate Katy's radio performance.

I don't think Roar will go high on Rhythmic due to its nature. I hope i'm wrong though.
I thought Gaga's radio reception has never been quite as good as Katy's, though? Seems pretty good to me, especially since the radio deal appears to have been short/minimal. I'm much happier with her starting off slow and steady like TEOG instead of a huge debut like BTW that tapers off, or totally crashing and burning like Judas.
It hasn't but that probably won't change with this song...

What does this mean? Why have stations not added it already? Do a lot of stations wait for the impact date?

that tweet is not necessary because the bigger stations already added it and are playing it so i think she's just ...
Maybe she kept the original plans of payola still on the 19th? If she did, that's smart.

The big ones already have her on rotation its just the smaller ones if something, in the digital age stations don't just wait for "impacts" days.
While I agree with you to not expect much of a difference, that isn't entirely true. WFL released a month before its impact date and while radio stations played it it wasn't huge. When the impact date hit its airplay exploded and it shot up itunes. I remember for the first month the navy was having daily meltdowns over WFL flopping and all of ATRL dragging it to the pits for its basic reptitiveness. Now its rihanna's biggest song.
That won't happen with Applause of course but it will make some difference.
