Those are terrible numbers for Gaga. She announced the whole era a month ago and got mainstream coverage for it and everything. BTW was rush released to iTunes as well, yet it still did fine.

Katy's are a little underwhelming but I see it selling pretty consistently once the video comes out.

Congrats to both songs! The comments referring to things such as "the monsters said it would debut #1" and "everyone said she was going to smash the competition" or similar variations of that, need to get it together. 8/19 was the original release date, and it was released on 8/12. I don't think this is a particularly difficult concept to grasp, but oh well. Congrats to Katy and Gaga!

Seriously, as shocked as I was, it's not like it's over or anything. The VMAS/Video will help this song a lot. BTW sold a ton first week but didn't have much longevity. However, this is certainly not gonna please Interscope and I don't think she expected only 200k either. If Miley outsells her first week, that will be bad.

Diamonds 133k if I remember well, I can't remember about We Found Love.
But Gaga is not on Rihanna's level in terms of singles, and this is definitely terrible for her. VMA performance might push song for a while but she is falling. Applause is declining already

undeniably We Found Love was the biggest song of 2011, and the first week sales in the US were disappointing, but just look how big the song become. (Although I highly doubt Applause will be as big has We Found Love)
