Columbia does not get anything from endorsements or a tour. They spent more money pushing these songs to radio than they got back in royalties. They spent "untold millions" on the ten music videos, the non-stop marketing, everything. And she only sold 3M.

No way they're going to jump into another one of her harebrained projects unless they know for sure the hits will come.

Once the album drops, the pre-order sales will be subtracted from the single sales and added to the album sales which is why Hold It Against Me registered negative sales in the week Femme Fatale was released. After all, an album consists of all album tracks and not all album tracks minus one.
