But they prefer her as a performer, an entertainer and an icon rather than a hit-maker. I agree that GP has their prejudice against Gaga. She needs to break that.
The fact that Beyonce is even being mentioned in this grouping when her career began in 1997 tells a tale in and of itself about where she stands with the GP, her staying power and overall star power. The fact that she has such tremendous pull with going on two decades under her belt is remarkable.
But, to answer the question posed by the OP, I don't think the GP necessarily prefer Katy and Rihanna as artists looking beyond the success of singles with Katy's light fun pop hits and Rihanna's constant radio saturation. Their songs catch easily, but, they're lagging behind Bey and Gaga in so many other areas -- areas that would indicate greater loyalty to the actual artist themselves such as touring, taking the time out to watch their televised concerts and specials etc. moreso than $1.29 singles. When factoring in everything beyond the ability to move singles, Bey and Gaga have far greater impact than Katy and Rihanna.
Because; 1. they're both promiscuous pop ****s who show their **** at every given opportunity 2. you don't have to be even remotely intelligent to understand their songs.
