Then Applause's first week sales in the US really aren't that disappointing. This is the norm for her. Everyone knows that the GP prefers starlets like Katy and Taylor which is why their first week sales are always massive.
This is Gaga her chance at a slow burner.

Omg I just saw Gaga's tweets and RTs. She's so dumb and embarrassing . No wonder her career is over.

The Edge Of Glory was a promo single and there was a big overlapping mess between it, Judas (which reentered the iTunes top10 after the music video release) and Born This Way (which was still very strong). That song was just too amazing that it managed to overcome this, the horrific music video and is still her biggest song in recurrent airplay.

Maybe it is, it seems to be (so far, sans BTW), following a similar trajectory to the rest of her singles

It also debuted at number two on the Hot Digital Songs chart, with sales of 266,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number three.
However [the next week], digital sales dropped by 64% to 98,000 copies, hence the song fell to number 19 on the Hot 100.
In its third week on the chart, "The Edge of Glory" was again the greatest gaining song on the Pop Songs chart and reached number 14, while debuting at number 33 on the Adult Pop Songs chart. It was also the greatest gaining digital song, selling 165,000 copies, with overall airplay increasing to 39 million audience impressions, subsequently resulting in the song re-entering the top-ten of the Hot 100 at number eight.[/b]
"The Edge of Glory" continued its rise in airplay by moving to number 15 on Radio Songs chart with 51 million impressions, while becoming her second fastest rise to the top ten in Pop Songs chart, following the title track from Born This Way. It sold another 166,000 digital downloads, moving up to number seven on the Hot 100 and number 14 on Adult Pop Songs, while debuting at number 46 on Hot Dance Club Songs.

We're talking about the debut week. It was released as a promo single then it got positive reception while Judas was plummeting and it became the third single.

I still don't get why she didn't just wait until the 19th - it's not like the full song leaked.
It would have benefited her - Roar would have lost some steam. Then she could have performed at the VMA's a week later and she could have maintained her lead.
Oh well.
