With that said, I think some people need to really, really keep things in perspective. Katy is fresh off her biggest era ever, and Gaga is coming from her worst performing era ever, plus a two year absence from radio/digital music.

The fact that she's doing this good should be applauded rather then critiqued. She's essentially reintroducing herself to the public. Give it time.

Gaga hasn't been gone THAT long. She's not Nelly Furtado.

I completely agree. Gaga makes it so hard to stan for her tbh. Part of me thinks she's really drank her own Kool-aid at this point. Yea Applause is a nice song (it finally grew on me), but the reality is that there virtually has to be better, and slightly more friendly songs on the album (Aura anyone?).


Yet instead of releasing the guaranteed smash that she needs so badly, she releases this. I don't know what the logic is, and tbh I really don't think there is any. I'm just hoping that it all works out for her.

Coming from someone that absolutely hated the song at first, I'm at least glad that it is indeed a grower. Hopefully it remains in the top 10 till the public can grasp it better.

The multiple threads full comments after comments saying "Teenage Dream was Katy's peak and she still couldn't outdo Gaga's worst era. " but now all of a sudden Gaga is coming off an underperforming era. Which one is it? She didn't even take a full 2 year break either.

Which was arguably a huge positive for her considering her situation in 2011.

It clearly says (in your words) that Monsters refer to BTW as both her worst era & an under-performing era, which they do. Where's the disconnect?
